Since 1978, the date of this book’s first publication, and now republished with new illustrations, many changes have taken place, and almost always for the better. Nevertheless, women are not only deprived of many of the privileges that seem to be reserved for men, but they continue to suffer major discriminations all over the world.

When we decided to republish some books from nearly forty years ago, we came to the conclusion that, out of the four titles of this series, the one dedicated to women and men was the most outdated. Since 1978 there have been many changes, and fortunately, almost always for the better. (Older readers can now verify these changes while reading this book.)

In spite of everything, as of 2015, women not only fail to enjoy many of the privileges that seem to be reserved for men, but also continue to suffer major discriminations all around the world. There is no doubt that women and men are equal and should have the same rights. Only through education can we achieve this egalitarian world, which must be a better place for everyone to live in.
