Casal, Mikel

Mikel publishes his drawings and caricatures in newspapers and magazines all over the world, even in distant Peru. He is the only one from the four illustrators of Books for Tomorrow that has lived under a dictatorship. He does not remember much, since he was a child, but he noticed (he was a bright boy) that there was a sadness in the air around him. He knew, from older people who told him, that many citizens lived in fear. Besides drawing, what Mikel likes to do the most is surfing. He usually goes to the Zurriola beach with his son Telmo and they watch the sunrise while they battle the wind and sea on their boards. We do not know if they agree, but living under a dictatorship must be the exact opposite as flying over a wave.
