Fisher, Jeff
Jeff Fisher (Melbourne, Australia, 1952) is best known for his book covers for prestigious publishing houses such as Bloomsbury (Great Britain), Seuil (France), or Companhia Das Letras (Brazil). His elegant designs, with an absolutely recognisable calligraphy, are present in bookshops all over the world. He is also the author of some children’s books: Pass the celery, Emery! (Stewart, Tabori e Chang, 2000) or The Hair Scare (Bloomsbury, 2006); and he has also made illustrations for a pocket edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Bloomsbury, 1995), and, more recently, for another work by Lewis Carrol, The Hunting of the Snark (The Folio Society, 2010).
Jeff Fisher is not very fond of speaking of his many activities, which prevents his editors from writing biographic texts of any length. To conclude, this artist usually explains that he is an Australian living in Paris, full stop.
