'Media Vaca Museum', awarded in Bolonia
Bologna Ragazzi Award ceremony, at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, last 1 April, in the Farnesse Room of Palazzo D'Accursio, in Piazza Maggiore. The book Media Vaca Museum received a mention in the New Horizons category.
Media Vaca Museum brings together the work of 31 illustrators, who were invited to create two-colour compositions based on two of their favourite pieces of art. Afterwards, the editor, Vicente Ferrer, asked a group of children between the ages of six and twelve to speak about the finished creations, and recorded and transcribed their comments. Their feedback constitutes the textual part of the book.
As the BRAW jury explained, the museum of the title ‘is virtual, not a physical place, but rather the space of the project, which invites us to find new ways of reading and experimenting art and museums’. In addition, they highlighted that this proposal ‘offers an unprecedented space for dialogue between generations and languages, as a new way of introducing art. A rare opportunity to explore how children read figures’.
