- 24, 25, 26 February. First meeting of independent Latin-American bookshops and publishing houses, Otra Mirada, organised by the bookshop Cálamo. The conference is held in the Paraninfo Building of the University of Zaragoza (Plaza Basilio Paraíso, 4). Friday 25, 12:30: round table with the title ‘Life Projects. New and veteran independent publishing houses’. Moderated by Samuel Alonso Omeñaca of 451 Editores. Participation of: Valeria Bergalli (Minúscula), Enrique Murillo (Libros del Lince), Chusé Raúl Usón (Xordica), Fernando García (Libros del Zorro Rojo), Juan Cerezo (Tusquets), Vicente Ferrer (Media Vaca), and David Villanueva (Demipage) who, since unable to attend, decides to contribute via a telephone call at the time of his slot.
- 12 March. Presentation of the book Benvinguts al Cabanyal (Welcome to El Cabanyal) in the Valencia Book Fair (Viveros Garden), as part of the activities organised by the bookshops Odisseu Llibres and Slaughterhouse. Although the book is still not finished (a scale model is presented), the event has great attendance. The publishers explain the project, Martín López talks about the work by the illustrators, and Rosa Barber reads several texts from the book.
- 8 May. 2011 Award for Publishing Labour is awarded to Media Vaca by FLLIC (Book Fair, Reading and Cultural Industries) of Castilla-La Mancha. The other award winners are Luis García Montero (2011 Literary Creation Award) and the ‘Página 2’ programme of RTVE-La 2 (Spanish Television Channel 2) (2011 Promotion of Reading Award). The ceremony takes place in La Hípica, trade fair centre of Cuenca. Begoña Lobo accepts the award on behalf of the publishing house. The award winners publicly thank the recognition and receive a creation from the Cuenca artist, Rubén Navarro.
- 20 – 25 May. Participation of Media Vaca in the Youth in Action programme and in the activities performed in Sarrant (town near Toulouse) organised by Fla-Kultur Association. Other participants are Wolfgang Moser (Lesezentrum Steiermark, Austria), Veronika Drexel (aha, Austria), Marie-Eve Marechal (Centre Culturel of Marchin, Belgium), Nicolas Fanuel (Bibliothèque Publique de Marchin, Belgique), and Catherine Mitjana and Didier Bardy (Librairie Tartinerie Des Livres et Vous).
- 11 June. Tribute to Antonio Fernández Molina in the Antígona Bookshop of Zaragoza, coinciding with the bookshop's 23rd anniversary. In the bookshop's backroom, as full of books and friends as the ship's berth of the Marx brothers, there is a presentation of the books Viva mi pueblo (Long Live My Village) by Media Vaca and Baila La Araña en Su Tela by Libros del Innombrable. This event enjoys contributions by the bookshop owner, Julia, the publisher of Libros del Innombrable, Raúl Herrero, the author, Isabel F. Echeverría, and the publishers of Media Vaca.
- 16 June. 19:00: conference (or confidence, rather) on publishing by Vicente Ferrer in TENDERETE II, “the street market of graphic and sound self-publishing par excellence”, which takes place on 16, 17, and 18 June in L'Escola del Cabanyal (Calle Progreso, 159. Valencia), the popular and historical school of the professor Visantico.
- July. Benvinguts al Cabanyal (Welcome to El Cabanyal) and Seis niños en Marte (Six Children on Mars).

- 23 September – 9 October. Exhibition of the book Benvinguts al Cabanyal (Welcome to El Cabanyal) in 13+1 houses of the neighbourhood in the 13th edition of Cabanyal Portes Obertes (13th edition of Cabayanal Open Doors). Production and coordination: Plataforma Salvem el Cabanyal (Save Cabanyal Platform) and Media Vaca; reproduction of images by Estudio Paco Mora; Poster design: Dani Sanchis (photography by Santiago Martí, AFC); Quadriptych image: Mik Baro.
- 13 – 16 October. Participation of Media Vaca in the first Festival of Artistic Publication (Liburu Ederren Festibala) organised by Belleza Infinita. The workshops and lectures take place in the Rekalde Hall of Bilbao. Participation of Elisa Pellacani, Óscar Martínez, Francesc Ruiz, Dada Company, Media Vaca, Antonio Gómez, Glòria Picazo (Centre d'Art La Panera), Mundanal Rüido, and Horacio Fernández. The discussion by Media Vaca has the title ‘¿Por qué no se hacen los niños sus propios libros?' ('Why don’t children make their own books?’). The two publishers speak before an educated and courteous audience in which there is only one boy –Simón, aged six–, who wants to be a biochemist when he grows up.
- 4 – 30 November. Exhibition of the book Benvinguts al Cabanyal (Welcome to El Cabanyal) in the Color Elefante Hall of the Russafa neighbourhood. It actively collaborates with the Plataforma Salvem el Cabanyal (Save Cabanyal Platform). Inauguration and closing ceremony with music and beverages. In addition to the book’s images and texts, the audience is able to enjoy the votive offering performed by Dani Sanchis for the poster of the exhibition Portes Obertes, which was knocked down before the exhibition could conclude by a French lady who entered the Hall with a bicycle.
- 10 November. 19:30. Presentation of the book Benvinguts al Cabanyal (Welcome to El Cabanyal) in the Muralla Hall of the Rector Peset Hall of Residence of Valencia. Together with the publishers, there are contributions by Antonio Sanchis Pallarés, Marià Ferrer, Angelita Danza, Martín López Lam, Sergi Tarín, and Neus Berenguer. Among the enthusiastic crowd, there is Rampova Cabaret, who gives the audience an amusing gift of his memories of Pepica la Pilona.
- 18 November. Party with friends in the bookshop-café Slaughterhouse. Meeting with collaborators and readers of the book Benvinguts al Cabanyal (Welcome to El Cabanyal) and creation of a collective votive offering. The official reason for this meeting was to say farewell to Po Poy, who was meant to go to Granada (but in the end, she never went).
- 21, 22, 23 November. Workshop seminar: ‘The Illustrated Children’s Book in Columbia’. Tuesday 22, 9:00: presentation of Media Vaca books by the publishers. The conferences and round tables take place in the Auditorio de la Casa del Encuentro (Meeting House Auditorium) of Medellín. The participants are, among others: Silvia Castrillón, Rafael Yockteng, Jairo Buitrago, María Osorio, Diana Castellanos, Daniel Gómez Henao, Juan Carlos Restrepo, and Julián David Correa. Organised by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. In collaboration with the publishing house Tragaluz Editores, Taller 7, the Museo de Antioquía (Museum of Antioch) and Cámara Colombiana del Libro (Colombian Book Chamber).
- 24 November. Lecture by Vicente Ferrer and Begoña Lobo directed to the design and illustration students of the Xavieran Pontifical University of Bogotá. Student Protest day. Our thanks to Diana Castellanos and Carolina Calle for the arrangements, and to Rafael Yockteng and Jairo Buitrago for the walks around Bogotá.
- 28 December. 18:00: Workshop by Media Vaca addressed to super-obedient children in the Valencia Public Library (Calle Hospital s/n) as part of the activities of the 2011 Special Christmas Programme. A book raffle is held, and everyone wins something.
